Chapman Freeborn highlights its last-minute ACMI expertise

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 30, 2009 – Chapman Freeborn Airchartering recently provided last-minute ACMI cover for Transavia following severe storms at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) which prompted the low-cost carrier to perform precautionary safety checks on some of its fleet.
The company's "Wings 24" team stepped in to arrange replacement aircraft for several of the Netherlands-based airline’s B737-700 and B737-800 aircraft, so that services to airports across Europe would remain unaffected.
The ACMI specialists again utilised their 24-hour office presence and real-time aircraft ability to source A310, B757-200, B737-800 and B767-300 aircraft to fly passengers to destinations including Rhodes, Tenerife, Haraklion and Olbia.
In total six flights were confirmed with Transavia following the storms, as well as a further sub-charter for a separate European airline. Following the precautionary measures Transavia’s aircraft quickly returned to service and operations resumed as normal.
Chapman Freeborn's Wings 24 team is based at the company’s London Gatwick headquarters and offers round the clock expertise on ACMI and last-minute sub-charter operations worldwide.
Working together with the global office network of the group, the service provides airlines with the reassurance that office based staff are on hand at any time, both locally and at the head office, to deal with unexpected problems or last minute issues.

HelmetHead Cycle Cuts a Different Angle in the Product Review Pie

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 19, 2009 – Shoppers and site lurkers may not only respond to the actual product, or topic, at hand like most other sites allow, but also directly to other user's posts as well.
"What we've essentially developed is a multi-threaded hierarchy tree which branches out according to how users respond to other users. For instance, if three people were to respond directly to the topic, the tree would go straight down, but once someone responds to another user's post, the tree starts to branch out. It can go out indefinitely, or until we decide to lock the thread," says Jeremy Harris, lead software developer for the company.
Threaded rendering of posts is common with several commercially available software packages, but HelmetHead Cycle has chosen to do this themselves to try to attain a higher level of integration with the site, especially in the likes of searching and visitor trending.
"We're going to step it up to the next level very soon. We've taken a lot of ideas from Facebook and Twitter, as well as a blog hosted by a major news network to come up with our ideas. For instance, if one were to copy and paste a link from another site into their message box, the program will be able to tell the title of their link's page, as well as get a description without the user having to type anything else. A thumbnail image of that page's content might also be available for inclusion. We're essentially trying to build a community presence here, not just a simple product review board, which typically favor the first branch of our tree," says Harris.
HelmetHead Cycle will soon be expanding into a service for people to buy and sell their own bikes, ATVs, four-wheelers and snowmobiles. The company also accepts photo submissions for inclusion on the page margins, which are able to be zoomed and sifted through. The forum utility will encompass the entire scope of their offering.

# # #

Since 2001, HelmetHead Cycle has sold powersport accessories internationally, initially starting with their Helmet Sunblocker product, and since expanding to offer over 9,100 products on their site at the time of writing. 25,000 SKUs are available in total with relationships with more than 60 suppliers and the Helmet Sunblocker now has dealer arrangements throughout the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Duffy & Partners Creates Brand Identity for Twin Cities Bike Share Program

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 16, 2009 – MINNEAPOLIS — Duffy & Partners, the internationally recognized branding and design firm, along with Bike Walk Twin Cities, today announce their partnership with one of the first bicycle share programs in the United States - Nice Ride Minnesota.
The Minneapolis Bike Share Program, which received a $1.75 million grant from Bike Walk Twin Cities, turned to Duffy & Partners to develop the name, brand strategy and all design related elements.
“We are always looking for opportunities to contribute to the enrichment of our community and to promote smart environmental solutions,” said Joe Duffy, chairman and principal of Duffy & Partners. “As proponents of healthy, active living, we are very excited to work on projects that share our passion.”
Identity created by Duffy & Partners will be on the station kiosks, bikes, banners, t-shirts, Web site and all collateral for Nice Ride, including letterhead and presentation materials.

“This is a huge opportunity to do great design for a project that will change how people in the Twin Cities commute,” said Duffy. “Since these kiosks and bikes will be seen all over the Twin Cities, it was important to create a recognizable brand identity that people will embrace. We want as many people using Nice Ride bikes as possible.”
Of course, the name had to click as well. Duffy explains, “The name, Nice Ride, pays homage to the cultural reference of ‘Minnesota Nice’, while also capturing the ‘nice’ traits of the program. It’s a nice way to get around town, it’s a nice way to be green, and it’s already part of the biking culture vernacular, as in ‘hey, nice ride!’”
Bike sharing has been around for decades, but stolen or damaged bikes, along with plagued payment systems, have hindered the growth of such programs. With the introduction of new technologies like electronic kiosks, Web-based membership and payment plans, the ability to track bicycle whereabouts and the vast community of bicyclists in the Twin Cities, it was only natural to move forward in implementing a project like this for area residents.
“We immediately knew we wanted Joe Duffy and his team involved in creating the identity for Nice Ride Minnesota,” said Bill Dossett, principal consultant for the Twin Cities bike share initiative and a City of Lakes Nordic Ski Foundation organizer. “Duffy & Partners has a unique sense for city events and culture, as was proven in the identity they created for The City of Lakes Loppet, an annual cross-country ski festival around Minneapolis lakes. Duffy’s experience, coupled with their hometown passion, made for an inspiring, creative partnership.”
Along with branding Nice Ride Minnesota, Duffy & Partners is also committed to seeing the growth and success of the program into the future, with members of the company volunteering their time at Nice Ride Minnesota promotional events. Joseph Duffy, designer at Duffy & Partners, also volunteers his time as a board member of Nice Ride Minnesota.
Initially, the first phase to be launched in spring 2010 will include 1,000 bicycles in 75 kiosks around downtown Minneapolis, Uptown and the University of Minnesota. Service will eventually expand to St. Paul and other high-density neighborhoods around the Twin Cities.

DICE Electronics iPod Adapters Are Easy To Install And Improve Ipod Car Sound Quality

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 08, 2009 – There are potentially hundreds of brands of iPod car adapters to choose from. All of these adapters range in price, quality, usability, and compatibility, making your choice a difficult one to make. You may have already come across one or two that offered high-quality sound, but were beyond your price range. Perhaps you found an adapter that was user-friendly, but didn’t work with your particular vehicle. Now, with one of the new DICE Electronics iPod car adapters, you’ll likely be able to find everything you’re looking for in one package.
DICE Electronics offers some of the most easy-to-use and easy-to-install iPod car adapters available to consumers. Most of these adapters are simple to use because they offer plug and play installation. This means that all you’ll probably have to do to install your DICE is plug one of its cables into your car’s factory radio and another into your iPod. You’ll then be able to listen to your music instantly while you’re driving.
If you don’t own an mp3 player from the popular iPod series, you will probably still be able to use the DICE Electronics iPod car adapter. The DICE isn’t restricted to working solely with Apple iPods. Other popularly branded mp3 players are also compatible. In order to find out whether or not your mp3 player will work with this adapter, simply ask a member of the staff at a car audio installation company. They will be able to let you know whether or not your mp3 player is compatible with the DICE before you decide to buy.
A car audio installation expert will also be able to let you know if the DICE is compatible with your vehicle. Because this adapter is compatible with so many types of vehicles, it’s likely that your car will be on the list. Just a few of the vehicle makes the DICE adapter will work with include Audi, BMW, Mazda, and even Saturn.
One of the most important reasons why DICE is a great car adapter to purchase is that it provides very high-quality sound. Perhaps the most significant feature about your iPod or other popular mp3 player is the CD-quality sound it offers, making your music more clear and enjoyable. With the DICE Electronics iPod car adapter, you can continue to enjoy this great sound after you get into your car and begin your journey. In addition, once your trip in the car is over, you don’t have to worry about having a low battery in your iPod. The DICE adapter charges your mp3 player while you drive.
Depending on the type of DICE adapter you purchase and the type of vehicle you own, the price for your adapter will vary. However, the majority of car owners that purchase a basic plug and play adapter will be able to find it competitively priced with other car adapters that don’t offer as many great qualities as the DICE Electronics.

HotelTravel.com’s Top 10 Reasons to Visit Bali

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 02, 2009 – HotelTravel.com recently completed its customer poll on Asia’s most desirable island destinations and it is not surprising that Bali, Indonesia came out on top in the region.
HotelTravel.com Chief Communications Officer, Tom Racette, said the allure of this Indonesian tropical paradise remained as strong as ever.
According to Mr Racette, Bali's strength as a desirable destination was its diversity. With so much to do and see Bali continues to attract both new and repeat visitors alike.
“Bali defies simple descriptions. Travellers who make the trip are bound to find Bali irresistible. The island’s soaring seaside cliffs, green rice-terraced valleys and mystical temples hidden in traditional villages always mesmerise.
"It also remains an excellent value-for-money holiday destination. There are great hotel deals to be found on HotelTravel.com starting at only 23 US dollars, plus scores of good family holiday resorts available for under 100 US dollars a night," he added.
HotelTravel.com’s Top Ten Reasons to Visit Bali include some of the best internet hotel deals available:
Asia’s Economy Airline Revolution

Bali is one destination that has benefited from Asia’s budget airline revolution. While direct flights from several key aviation hubs remain few and deals tough to come by, Air Asia offers non-stop flights with great fares for on-line bookings. From its Kuala Lumpur hub to Denpasar fares start at RM300 (US$105) return, from Bangkok its 8,615 baht (US$250) and from Singapore S$306 (US$211). In Australia, Jetstar is also offering outstanding value with its Jet Saver fares from Sydney starting from A$559 (US$411) return.*
Like a Rolling Stone

When the Rolling Stone’s legendary singer Mick Jagger tied the knot with American Supermodel Jerry Hall – Bali became the world’s top wedding destination. Today Bali’s wedding industry is much more sophisticated, and romantic hotels in Ubud worthy of consideration include Bali Sprit House & Spa (from US$77), Bagus Jati (from US$157) or the luxury Ubud Hanging Gardens (from US$388). For hotels in Nusa Dua, HotelTravel.com has an exclusive rate at Grand Bali from US$66 until 14 July. One added motivation to getting hitched on Bali is that the honeymoon is included!
Learn to count in $$Millions

There's nothing like the thrill when of being a millionaire in any currency. In Bali, with an exchange rate of around 10,000 Indonesian rupiah for one US dollar, only one hundred dollars reaches the mark! But don’t get too excited, Balinese traders often quote in US dollars for many unique Balinese handicrafts visitors want to take back home.
Pay like a Pauper, Live like a Prince

Many people think only the rich and famous visit Bali to stay in exclusive million-dollar pool villas. Check out the HotelTravel.com website to discover excellent value at hotels in Ubud including Adi Cottage Hotel (from US$26) or Puri Asri Villa and Spa (from US$28).  Hotels in Kuta-Legian offer the real rock bottom rates on the island, especially Sinar Bali Hotel (from US$23), Matahari Bungalows (from US$34) and Melasti Beach Bungalows (from US$36).
Swing like Tarzan

Yes, in Bali anyone can swing from trees like Tarzan for a day.  At Flying Fox, customers are propelled through the jungle for up to 160 metres at a time attached to wires strung between high points in the forest. There are five different routes to choose from at the Bali Treetop in the Bedugul Botanical Gardens.
A Day Bali Stands Still

Most people are too busy to wondered what it would be like to stop rushing around for one day. But nothing moves on Bali’s Nyepi Day, the Balinese New Year. For 24 hours, there is no loud talking, music, noisy motorbikes, cars or even turning on electrical appliances. There are no taxis, the international airport closes down and tourists are told to stay indoors. Mark your calendar: the next Nyepi Day is 16 March 2010.
Enjoy a cuppa of strange brew

Garden Cafe in Sanur sells the world's rarest coffee, ‘Kopi Luwak’, and it’s best to drink the coffee before finding out how this delicacy is created. The truth, believe it or not, is that the coffee beans all pass through the digestive system of the Asian Palm civet, a tree climbing cat. On Bali it costs US$55 for a small pack, well worth the shock value alone.
Chill Out at Ku De Ta

There’s nothing quite like Ku De Ta anywhere else in the world. Perched on the edge of the sea along popular Seminyak beach, this beach club is a magnet for the rich, famous and their entourages. There are heaps of popular hotels in Seminyak], including Villa Coco Bali (from US$104), Villa Seminyak Estate & Spa Hotel (from US$155) and the Oberoi Bali (from US$311).
Surf the ‘Endless Summer’

Bali has been surf Mecca since the 1960s, and aspiring surfers can sign up at one of many surfing schools on the island. Within a few days student surfers can be riding the waves like a professional.  A five-day package starts from around US$120, and there are plenty of boards for hire
Check in, Spa out

Everyone has heard about the legendary health spas in Bali, where the staff have perfected the art of pampering and relaxation. Whether covered in mud, bathed in local herbs or massaged with tropical oils, the spas are bound to provide guests with a fresh new outlook on life.
*All airfares are from 29 May 2009, based on exchange rates of the day, and are subject to confirmation from each individual airline.

**All hotel rates are as of 29 May, 2009, priced in US dollars and subject to change.

AseanAffairs Breaks the News of Latest Attempts to Revive Kra Canal

PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 01, 2009 – The push to reactivate the Kra Canal Project - the multi-billion-dollar venture to redraw the maritime map of Southeast Asia – is quietly regaining momentum, says Swarup Roy, CEO and founder of TIME International Management Enterprise, publishers of AseanAffairs magazine.
The Bangkok-based, English language bi-monthly, claims that it is the first to report on the latest attempts to reactivate the long-dormant project that has been shrugged off as a pipe-dream.
Entitled, “Kra Canal: Countdown to Resurrection”, the Cover Story in the May-June 2009 edition of AseanAffairs magazine explores the project’s origins that date back to 1677 AD, analyses the reasons for the long delay and explains why there is a strong potential for the eventual take-off.
As it often happens in the business of reporting, the lead to the Kra Canal story came unexpectedly. It just came out of the blue’, said CEO Roy, who happened to learn ‘inside stories’ and latest developments of Kra.
Giving an essential support to the cover story is an interview with Khun Pakdee Tanapura, a board director of Thailand’s National Committee for Study of Kra Canal Project.
There are a few informed sources which enable AseanAffairs to obtain exclusive information on the latest attempts to revive the project, access to an artist conception of the Kra Canal, location maps, the list of feasibility studies and the chronology of the Kra project.
Apart from the cover package, the May-June edition updates its readers of what has been going on in Southeast Asia, and what the future holds through its regular columns.
The latest edition of AseanAffairs can be sampled at www.aseanaffairs.com.
